About Siemers Wine and Spirits
Emil Siemers was born in Bremen Germany and immigrated to America in 1925. He and his wife, Catherine, opened the original store on West Post Road in White Plains, across from White Plains hospital, more than 80 years ago. The store began as a delicatessen, and it had double front doors. In 1933 when prohibition was repealed, they took advantage of the two front doors and turned half the store into a liquor store. The business did well there, but in the late 1960’s, Emil was out looking for a new location when he happened upon Old Post Road in Bedford Village, where a new shopping center was being developed. He liked the storefront in the center of the mall because it was the first one you saw when you drove in. Emil and Catherine’s son, Robert Siemers, signed the lease and moved the business from White Plains to Bedford in 1971 with his wife, Arlene. Eventually, Robert and Arlene’s son Bob and his wife Delia began running the store, with Bob’s mom, Arlene retiring from the store recently at the age of 85.

Bob and Delia are long time Bedford residents, whose 3 children, Jason, Megan and Erin have all worked at the store at various times. Delia passed away in May of 2015, and Bob retired shortly thereafter, so Delia's sister Jennifer has been running the store with the help of her son, Sean, a sommelier, and her nephew Jason and his wife Shannon. Siemers Wine and Spirits celebrated 85 years in business on December 28th, 2018 and looks forward to enjoying many more years with our wonderful customers!
